Our client, an insurance company located in Vaughan is seeking a full cycle Bookkeeper for a contract to hire opportunity, please see a list of responsibilities below:

Essential Job Responsibilities

Prepare and process payroll on a semi-monthly basis in a timely manner

Enter and enroll new employees in the following systems:
  • Payroll system
  • Employer database
  • Insurance portals for Group Benefit and Group Registered Retirement Savings Program
  • Maintain accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions
  • Balance accounts by reconciling entries
  • Maintains and balance general ledger by preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries
  • Year-end adjusting entries
  • Co-ordinate bank deposits
  • Manage accounts payable on a daily, monthly or annual basis
  • Prepare checks, payments and bank deposits
  • Assemble information to assist with audits
  • Issuance of Record of Employments
  • Comply with relevant reporting requirements and follow accounting policies and procedures
  • Maintain complete filing system to support financial and employee records
  • Report to management as required
  •  

Qualifications & Experience
  • Post-secondary education in accounting or bookkeeping
  • Experience with Ceridian software
  • Knowledge of:
  • generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
  • booking practices
  • relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
  • relevant computer applications
  • Minimum of five years of experience in similar role
  • Extensive experience with payroll, data entry, record keeping and computer operation
